Comparative Neuromechanics Laboratory
The Comparative Neuromechanics Laboratory (CNL ) is located within the School of Applied Physiology in the Georgia Institute of Technology's College of Sciences. Our research at the CNL focuses on studying how humans and other animals move through and interact with their environment. By integrating approaches and techniques from both biomechanics and neurophysiology, we can elucidate both passive mechanical and active neural mechanisms that may be contributing to control limbed locomotion in humans and other terrestrial vertebrates. This multidisciplinary approach allows us to test general hypotheses about the basic design and function of the locomotor apparatus over a range of conditions. Through a better understanding of how the biomechanical and environmental constraints interact with neurophysiological control, we can better understand the overall behavior of locomotion.
